Laser Hair Removal...
We are excited to offer you the GentleLase by Candela Corporation, an alexandrite laser featuring dynamic cooling which makes laser treatments less uncomfortable and more effective.
By literally freezing the skin milliseconds before the laser pulse, there is less thermal damage to the skin thus allowing higher energy to penetrate the hair follicle where it is needed. The GentleLase is FDA approved, and has successfully shown to produce permanent hair reduction.
We are one of the few sites in New England able to offer you the opportunity to receive this state-of-the- art technology at an affordable price under the supervision of an experienced physician.
Our office is committed to providing the safest and best in hair removal technology.

Sciton intense pulse light / laser
BBL Photo Rejuvenation
BBL broadband light's innovative technology sets new standards for the treatment of skin conditions associated with ageing, active lifestyles and sun damage. BBL light energy allows the appropriate wavelength or filter to be selected, for precise treatment to match your skin's condition and your desired results.
The conditions treated with BBL includes fine wrinkles, age spots, small facial veins (telangiectasia), rosacea, redness and flushing, freckles, brown spots, birth marks, port wine stains, red spots (haemangiomas), enlarged pores, burn erythema and hyperpigmentation.
The light energy delivered by the BBL will gently heat up the upper layers of your skin. The heat absorbed by the targeted areas will stimulate your skin cells to generate new collagen. This will help restore your skin to it's natural beauty, blending its natural colours and making it smoother, vibrant and younger looking.
Any area of the body can be treated. The most common areas are those exposed to the damaging effects of sun light. The most popular treatments are for the face, neck, back of hands, chest and shoulders. Usually 2-5 treatments at 2-4 weeks interval are needed. This is a non-invasive and gentle procedure with virtually no down-time. In most cases you will be able to return to work, apply makeup, and resume most of your activities right away.
After the treatment, you may experience some redness that should resolve within a few hours. For some pigmented lesions you will see a darkening of the treated areas followed by fading and flaking off at a later stage. Your treated skin will feel smoother, fine wrinkles and pores will be less noticeable, and sun spots or uneven pigmentation will fade. You will be sensitive to ultraviolet light and you must avoid direct sun exposure until fully healed. Fully cover your skin or use a good sunscreen whenever you go outdoors.

BBL Hair Removal
BBL broadband light energy can selectively target microstructures such as hair follicles, for the treatment of unwanted hair. Your treatment will be tailored for your skin type to ensure the safest, most effective and most comfortable treatment. An integrated system for cooling your skin will be used to remove heat and should ensure a comfortable treatment. Treatment time will depend upon the area to be treated. The BBL is suitable for most skin types, except very dark skin. Tanned skin should not be treated. Please avoid tanning, using tanning products or sun exposure for at least three weeks before treatment.
BBL selectively targets the melanin in the follicles of your unwanted hairs, and heats them with infrared energy, while sparing other structures in your skin. Unlike other epilation processes, BBL treats many hairs at once, making the treatment of large areas practical, for a safe, fast, effective and gentle treatment. Usually 4-6 treatments at 6-8 weeks interval are needed. There are three phases of hair growth - anagen, catagen and telogen. As only hairs in the active growth phase, anagen, can be successfully treated each time, hence a series of treatments is needed.
After the treatment, some redness and slight swelling may be present in the area that has been treated; however this should subside within a few hours. Keep the treated area clean, and use sunscreen when outdoors.

SkinTyte
The SkinTyte procedure utilises a broadband of light energy to deeply heat dermal collagen. This process promotes partial denaturation and contraction of collagen. The heat also initiates the body's natural healing process which creates a renewed collagen foundation leading to increased skin firmness. Powerful cooling maintains the outer surface of your skin at a cool temperature before, during and after each pulse, providing a comfortable and safe procedure. A series of pulses will be repeated over the treatment area to ensure best results. Actual time of treatment will depend on the area treated.
SkinTyte is a non-invasive procedure with no downtime so you can resume regular activities immediately following treatment. You can also apply makeup and sunscreen after each treatment. The SkinTyte procedure is not a substitute for a face-lift and results may vary from person to person. It is recommended for those who desire moderate, noticeable skin improvements without having to undergo surgery. Full results often take up to four months as the collagen foundation of your skin is rebuilt and strengthened.
SkinTyte treatments are safe for all skin types and can be performed on any area of the body where an improvement in your skin firmness is desired. Popular areas include the face, neck, abdomen and arms. A series of 2-3 treatments spaced a month apart is usually needed. No special skincare regimen is required following treatment. However, you should always protect your skin from direct sun exposure and use a good sunscreen.

The Sciton comes with a 2940mm Er:YAG (erbium) laser, used for MicroLaser Peels. This is the gold standard for superficial resurfacing. The computer guided scanner sets the ideal beam overlap for perfect coverage and uniform and precise ablation of the outermost layers of the skin. If you are looking for more than microdermabrasion or light chemical peels, and have little time for a prolonged healing process from a full skin resurfacing, then MicroLaser Peel was designed for you. Generally, microdermabrasion only removes the stratum corneum (10 microns). The MicroLaser Peel is a partial to full epidermal peel (10-50 microns) and is performed with topical anaesthetic.
MicroLaser Peel treat unwanted skin conditions typical of ageing and active lifestyles. Skin conditions such as wrinkles, scars, acne scars, keratoses or pigmentary problems have been very successfully treated with MicroLaser Peel. You will experience smoother, healthier, more vibrant skin, with a significant immediate change in skin texture and tightness as compared to microdermabrasion.
MicroLaser Peel is the weekend treatment with immediate, lasting results with little time off, minimal discomfort and easy post-treatment care. Typically, the procedure is repeated 2-4 times, spaced 6-8 weeks apart. Healing takes 3-4 days. The procedure can be performed on a Thursday, so you can return to work the following Monday. Symptoms immediately following the procedure resemble a sunburn, with minor sloughing on the second day. Redness will begin to fade by the third day, and be easily covered by makeup on the fourth day.

MicroLaserPeel™
What is the MicroLaserPeel?
It is a minimal to full epidermal laser peel that precisely removes the outermost layers of the skin. The procedure is individually tailored to the nature of the problem to be corrected: wrinkles, scars, keratoses,or pigmentation problems.
Who should consider a MicroLaserPeel?
The patient looking for better results than microdermabrasion or light chemical peels can offer, yet, still has little time for the healing process.
How is the MicroLaserPeel different from Microdermabrasion?
Generally, microdermabrasion only removes the outer layer (stratum corneum, 10-15 microns) of the skin. Patients may become dissatisfied when the perceived results do not equal expense and the number of procedures required.
The MicroLaserPeel is a minimal to full epidermal peel (20-50 microns). Because this procedure goes deeper into the epidermis, it is the perfect step between microdermabrasion and deeper peels.
How often does a MicroLaserPeel need to be done?
One procedure could be sufficient for at least 6 to12 months, but additional procedures can be performed as required. A package of three to four treatments may be best for you. Your physician will determine what is necessary.
What can the patient expect?
Smoother, healthier more vibrant skin. You will notice a significant and immediate change in skin texture and tightness when compared to microdermabrasion.
What type anesthesia is used?
A topical anesthetic such as Ela-max, Emla or Betacaine Plus is applied thirty to 45 minutes before the procedure.
Do I have to wear any type dressing or bandage after the procedure?
No! Your physician will prescribe an ointment such as Aquafore or Vaseline. This is used as a barrier to keep the air away from your skin while you grow new epithelium. You will probably use it for one to two days. After that, a moisturizer can be used.
How long is the healing process?
The healing process varies from patient to patient but will generally take from two to four days. The procedure can be performed on Thursday or Friday and you can return to work the following Monday. Immediately following the procedure you will feel as if you have a bad sunburn. You will have minor sloughing and itchiness the following day. By day two, redness will begin to fade and by day three any redness can be easily covered by makeup.

ProFractional
The Sciton erbium laser also comes with a ProFractional module, for fractional resurfacing. ProFractional is a quick and comfortable laser procedure with little or no down time, used for improving the overall appearance of your skin. ProFractional uses laser energy to create thousands of microscopic channels in the skin which are surrounded by areas of healthy, untreated skin. The zones of untreated skin invigorate the body's natural healing process, and the treated areas stimulate production of new collagen, plumping up the skin and smoothing out wrinkles, lines, scars and other irregularities. And because only a fraction of the skin is directly treated with the laser, healing time is quick and downtime is short.
If you are looking for younger looking skin, or to improve scars, wrinkles, or sun damage in a comfortable treatment with a fast recovery, then you maybe an ideal candidate. ProFractional can be used to improve a wide variety of skin conditions, but is most used for: wrinkles and fine lines, post-traumatic scars, acne scars, age spots, sun spots, freckles, and ageing and sun-damaged skin. Most skin areas can be treated. Popular areas are the face, neck, chest and hands.
ProFractional is a fast and comfortable procedure. A numbing cream may be applied in advance to aid in comfort during the procedure. ProFractional is typically done in a series of 1-4 treatments, spaced 3-6 weeks apart, and is often combined with the MicroLaser Peel to further enhance your treatment results. Immediately following the procedure you may experience a mild redness, resembling a light sunburn sensation. Complete healing takes only about 1-3 days and most people can get back to work and apply makeup within 1-2 days after the treatment. Your skin will be more sensitive to ultraviolet light after the procedure, so you must avoid direct sun exposure until fully healed. You should always use some level of sun protection to avoid sun damage and premature ageing of your skin.

Laser Skin Peel
What is Profile?
Profile is a combination of two lasers technologies, and sets a new standard for laser skin peels, allowing your physician to precisely vary the depth and the effect of your laser peel. Your treatment will be tailored to match your skin condition and desired result.
What is laser skin resurfacing?
Laser skin resurfacing is one of the leading cosmetic procedures in the United States. The process utilizes a laser to minimize the appearance of lines and wrinkles, as well as improve the overall texture of the skin.
How does laser skin resurfacing work?
Lasers work by emitting a specialized light that passes through the skin and is preferentially absorbed by water in the damaged collagen of your skin. This action allows the laser light to ablate (evaporate) very fine layers of skin, diminishing the look of the wrinkle and other unwanted textures. The older, wrinkled collagen in your skin is remodeled into newer skin: as new cells form in the healing process, the skin becomes smoother and softer. Several lasers and light sources are available today for skin resurfacing.
Why choose laser skin resurfacing?
Laser skin resurfacing offers patients many benefits. The procedure is truly "incisionless," provides consistent results, and offers the surgeon precise control. Its faster recovery time means that it can also delay or eliminate the need for the more invasive face-lift surgery.
What conditions can be treated with Profile?
- Wrinkles
- Epidermal Nevi
- Acne Scars
- Solar lentigines
- Actinic Keratoses
- Hypertrophic Scars
- Syringoma
- Surgical Scars
What will the Profile laser do?
Your physician will use Profile to remove thin layers of your skin's surface, which will be replaced by younger skin growth. Only Profile has the ability to provide a treatment that is optimized to your skin condition. Your wrinkles will soften and become less noticeable, some will disappear; and pigmented lesions will greatly improve.
What areas can be treated?
All skin areas can be treated. Popular areas are the face, neck, chest and hands. Discuss your needs with your physicion.
How long will it take me to recover?
Your healing time will depend upon your actual treatment depth, and you may experience erythema (redness) which may last several weeks. Healing time does vary among individuals. Your physician can answer questions about temporary changes to your skin color and how they may be camoflaged.
What should I expect after treatment?
Some redness and slight swelling may be present in the area that has been treated, however, this should subside within a few hours. Your skin will have a pink or red color that will resolve over time. You will need to avoid direct sun exposure, or use a sun block of at least SPF 15 when outdoors.
Will it be uncomfortable?
The amount of discomfort varies from patient to patient. Your physician will discuss your anesthesia options to properly manage any discomfort from the treatment.
Is there a risk?
Following the correct aftercare procedures prescribed by your physician will reduce the risk of infection. You will return to your physician for follow-up visits to ensure excellent healing.
What will happen during the procedure?
Your physician will administer anesthesia after discussing the options with you. Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses.
Profile's laser beam will be delivered through a computer-controlled device that automatically scans the area of your skin being treated. You may hear a snapping or popping noise as the laser gently removes the outer skin cells.
Your procedure may take a few minutes to half an hour depending on the size of the area to be treated and the depth of your peel.
What aftercare will I need?
It is important to follow your physician’s instructions. You will be given some skin care products and instructions on how to use them. This will minimize your risk for infection and ensure the shortest healing time. The top layer of your skin will re-grow and be covered with make-up in about one week.
Your new skin will be very sensitive to ultra-violet light and you must avoid sun exposure until fully healed. You need to cover your skin, wear a hat and use a good sun screen if your have to go outdoors.
How long will it take me to heal? What are the side effects?
Most patients enjoy a short recovery time after laser resurfacing, which lasts anywhere from less than a week for lighter resurfacing procedures, to a bit more than a week for deeper procedures. You will be asked to keep the area moist. The initial redness after the procedure will fade over a period of time. However, camouflage makeup may be used to cover the redness.
As with any surgical procedure, there are risks and side-effects associated with laser skin resurfacing. Your doctor will review with you in detail any risks involved in the procedure.
Is the procedure painful?
You will be given either a topical or local anesthetic during the procedure. Sedation can also be provided. Most patients describe the post-procedure feeling as a bad sunburn; this feeling will subside in a few days. Cold compresses will also help subdue the discomfort.
How soon will I see results?
Because your skin will heal over a period of several weeks, you may not see the final results until then. As your skin heals, and as new collagen regenerates and fills in the lines and wrinkles, your results will continue to improve. Results will continue to improve for months.
For the ultimate in non-surgical facial rejuvenation with a visible difference in results after one session, we recommend combining treatments for synergistic effects. For example, BBL Photo Rejuvenation can be combined with MicroLaser Peel, SkinTyte and / or ProFractional, for maximum results with less overall downtime. Even better results may also be obtained when combined with botulinum toxin injections for dynamic upper face wrinkles and / or dermal filler injections for lower face wrinkles from volume loss. Cosmetic injections are usually preformed after BBL / laser treatments.
can the laser help with my leg or facial veins?
Yes, we can now effectively treat red and blue veins up to 3 mm in diameter with our Nd/Yag laser and BBL. The treatments avoid the injections encountered during sclerotherapy, but on occasion, sclerotherapy can be very useful as well for treating leg veins. During your initial evaluation, we will gladly recommend the most effective procedure based on the nature of your leg veins and any individual concerns.

Laser Vein Treatment
What is the Profile vascular laser?
Profile is a new laser using infrared energy and the new standard for the treatment of many skin conditions. Profile allows your physician to precisely treat visible vessels, broken capillaries, spider veins, lesions, and discoloration of your skin. Your treatment will be tailored to match your skin condition and desired result.
What conditions can be treated?
- Rosacea
- Redness
- Telangiectasia
- Spider veins
- Facial Veins
- Broken Capillaries
What will the Profile laser do?
Your physician will use Profile to restore your skin’s youthful color. Broken capillaries and other visible vascular structures will be gently eliminated from the visible layers of your skin’s surface. Profile has the ability to provide a treatment that is optimized to your skin condition. Unwanted lesions will be preferentially heated by the laser energy and become less noticeable, some will disappear; and pigmented lesions will greatly improve.
What areas can be treated?
All skin areas can be treated. Popular areas are the face, neck, chest and legs. Discuss your needs with your physicion.
Is there a risk?
There is little risk for the treatment of these benign comditions. In some cases repeat treatment will be necessary depending on your response to the treatment and the desired result.
How long will it take me to recover?
Your healing time will depend upon your actual treatment, and you may experience erythema (redness) which may last several days. There is virtually no recovery time and you may resume an active lifestyle immediately. Your physician can answer questions about temporary changes to your skin color and how they may be camoflaged.
What should I expect after treatment?
Some temporary redness may be present in the area that has been treated, however, this should subside within a few hours. Your skin will have a pink or red color that will resolve over time. You will need to avoid direct sun exposure, or use a sun block of at least SPF 15 when outdoors.
Will it be uncomfortable?
There is little to no discomfort, however this varies from patient to patient and depends on the depth of the treatment. There is no need for anesthesia and your physician will discuss your options to properly manage any discomfort from the treatment. There will be no posttreatment discomfort.
What will happen during the procedure?
Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. Profile's laser beam will be delivered to the area of your skin being treated. You may briefly feel a warm or hot sensation as the laser pulses are preferentially absorbed in the unwanted vessels, heating and destroying them. Your procedure may take a few minutes to half an hour depending on the size of the area to be treated.
What aftercare will I need?
It is important to follow your physician’s instructions. You may be given some skin care products and instructions on how to use them. This will minimize your risk for inflammation or redness and ensure the shortest response time. Any vessels or pigment denatured by the laser will be reabsorbed by your body over a period of time in a natural cleaning process. Most small capillaries will become invisible almost immediately since they will no longer contain blood flow.
Your skin will be sensitive to ultra-violet light and you must avoid direct sun exposure. Most of the conditions treated by the laser will have been caused by sun exposure, so avoiding sunlight will prolong your new youthful appearance. You need to cover your skin or use a good sunscreen whenever you go outdoors.
What is laser vein treatment?
Laser therapy is a proven treatment for treating unsightly broken and dilated vessels, as well as such other unwanted vascular lesions as rosacea, port wine stains, and other vascular birthmarks. In fact, the latest advances in laser technology have given us a method for removal that is safer, faster and more effective than previous methods.
How does laser vein treatment work?
Lasers work by emitting a specialized light that passes through the skin and is preferentially absorbed by its target, which can be an unwanted hair, birthmark, tattoo, or in this case, the hemoglobin (the red portio n of blood) in the unwanted vessels. The heat from the laser causes the vein to break up and disappear. There are several lasers available that work remarkably well in treating unwanted veins.
What can I expect with the procedure?
Most people describe laser vein treatment as feeling like the snap of a rubber band against the skin. You may be given a topical anesthetic cream to numb the area to be treated. Any discomfort can be eased with the application of cool compresses. After treatment, you can immediately return to normal activities.
How soon will I see results? Are there any side effects?
Because laser vein treatment works by causing the unwanted vein to break up and dissolve, resolution of the unwanted vein will take place over the course of several weeks. The most common side effect is bruising, or purpura, around the treated area. This will resolve within days of the treatment, and occurs only with some lasers used. Your doctor can discuss any other risks of laser surgery with you personally.
What are facial veins?
Facial veins are fine blood vessels (otherwise known as telangiectasia) located on the face, usually around the nose and central cheeks. They can be the result of cumulative sun exposure, genetics, or rosacea. Many patients also refer to these as "broken" blood vessels or capillaries.
nonablative skin resurfacing
In addition to the ultrapulsed carbon dioxide laser resurfacing, we also offer nonablative skin resurfacing, allowing us to greatly improve the appearance of fine rhytides, sun damage, and superficial scarring.
This is accomplished by heating up the dermal collagen without causing prolonged redness or healing of the epidermis
In other words, through nonablative resurfacing, improvement is brought about more gradually, but without the need for down time or coverups.
During your consultation visit, we will discuss all the options available to reach your desired result, and together decide which of our skin resurfacing choices is the right one for you.
botox
Botox is an injectable substance that causes paralysis of the muscle it is injected into. This paralysis lasts 3 - 4 months, and occasionally longer, and is very beneficial in alleviating frown, forehead, or crows feet wrinkles, since these wrinkles are caused by the contraction of muscle groups used on a regular basis.
The more treatments one has, the longer the benefit since the muscles are not used to contracting as effectively following Botox injections. The muscle groups in the upper one third of the face are best suited for Botox injections, although the neck can benefit also.
There is only mild discomfort associated with the injections, which are done quickly and easily in an office setting.
Botox is also useful in treating hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) by its action on the smooth muscles around the sweat gland. Generally sweat production is dramatically decreased for 6 months following the injections.
Another benefit is observed in people who suffer from migraines. There is a dramatic decrease in the severity and frequency in some patients who experience migraines following Botox injections.
restylane, juvederm, hydrelle & other skin fillers
Today there are numerous hylauronic acid products that do not require a skin test, and appear to last longer than collagen.
These dermal filler substances can be injected directly into scars and wrinkles to help restore the normal contour of the skin or enhance and augment the shape of the lips. A very fine needle is used to minimize discomfort.
The names as well as the chemical composition of the filler substances vary, as do the costs and persistence of the correction.
The prices of these treatments are best determined after consultation, during which time the amount and best filler substance can be determined for optimal correction, and an accurate price can be quoted.

The long-lasting effects of RADIESSE dermal filler can reduce the need for retreatment, which saves you time and money compared with other fillers.
artefill
Artefill is the first and only FDA approved non-resorbable wrinkle filler for the correction of smile lines also known as the nasolabial folds. It is a dual-acting inject able wrinkle filler. The secret is in its patented formula, which contains 20% Artefill-Precision-Filtered Micropherers (made of PMMA, one of the most widely used synthetic materials in medicine) and 80% Artefill Purified Bovine Collagen gel with lidocaine, an anesthetic. The injection technique used to administer ArteFill does not require numerous needle sticks. First ArteFill visibly corrects the wrinkle. Then the micropheres provide the permanent support your skin needs to correct the wrinkle and prevent further wrinkling.
How does ArteFill differ from temporary fillers? Temporary fillers are made up of different kinds of natural and synthetic materials that are absorbed by the body over time and as a result wrinkle correction usually only lasts up to six months. Where the results of temporary fillers end, ArteFill's results endure.
Facial wrinkles are a result of the natural aging process. Over time, the skin looses its ability to repair itself as the underlying elastin and collagen fibers break down and lose elasticity. Heredity, environment, stress can all contribute to the development of wrinkles.
With ArteFill:
- Receive immediate results with no downtime, a treatment only takes 15-30 minutes.
- FDA approved for the safe and effective correction of facial wrinkles.
- Results improve over the course of months.
- Usually only requires 1-2 treatments.
- Personalized ArteFill Progressive Enhancement
(gradual wrinkle correction) helps ensure the look you desire.
